AMAGABA, which means Spears » in Kirundi, is both a symbol of royalty, dignity for Burundian folkloric heritage and a visionary initiative that places Africa at the center of the global conversation. 

Inspired by the richness of traditions sacred drums, emblematic dances and ancestral melodies. AMAGABA embodies the strength of cultural heritage while paving the way for African innovation and creativity. 

Celebrated on national and international stages, honored by the highest authorities, AMAGABA showcases Burundi across Africa, Europe and Asia. More than a cultural platform, 

AMAGABA is a movement that safeguards African identity and projects it into the future.

Since its creation, AMAGABA has established itself as a leading reference in Burundian and African folklore. The troupe has:

  • Represented Burundi in numerous international festivals across Africa, Europe, and Asia (China, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Morocco, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania…).

  • Performed at official ceremonies honored by the President of the Republic of Burundi and the First Lady.

  • Enriched prestigious events organized by African and European institutions.

  • Won multiple trophies and awards thanks to the harmonic creativity of its drummers, dancers, and musicians.

  • Earned the nicknames “Burundi’s Genius Drummers”, “Burundi’s Genius Traditional Dancers”, and “Burundi’s Genius of Traditional Melodies”.
